So Long Summer

Summer sky falling into the sea, taking part of me.

Carbin Reef Sandbar

Summer has come and gone.

Carbin Reef Sandbar, Sagay City

And all that's left are the memories.

Beach tents in Carbin Reef, Sagay City.

Of a blissful day spent in a little piece of paradise.

Carbin Reef, marine sanctuary.

Of puffy white clouds, powder blue skies and sparkling, aquamarine waters.

Of lovely friends and all the craziness they inspire.

Of sandbars, seafoam and sunshine.

Of cool drinks with colorful umbrellas.

For a little while, the world was absolutely perfect.

If I close my eyes, I can still smell the smoke, feel the mild summer breeze.

It was the kind of day you wish would go on forever.

Carbin Reef, Sagay City. Sandbar.

But the tide came in and streaks of purple colored the horizon.

Marine Reserve, Carbin Reef, Sagay City.

It was time to say goodbye.

Carbin Reef Sandbar, Sagay City

Slowly, dreamily, our boat drifted away with the wind blowing languid promises of summers to come.

Carbin Reef is a beautiful marine sanctuary in Sagay City, in the island of Negros. The tongue-shaped sandbar is a lovely, serene place for a day trip and aside from swimming, it is also a great site for snorkeling. To get there: Carbin Reef is a short drive away from Bacolod City, around one and half-hour by private car. Upon reaching Sagay, proceed to the port where a boat can be rented. It takes around 15 minutes by boat to reach the sandbar. Tents and grills can also be reserved at the port, for a fee. There is nothing else on the islet except the tents and grills, not even a toilet, so be sure to bring everything you need! :)

*For bookings, contact Sagay City Information and Tourism Office during office hours at (034) 488-0649 or Sagay Marine Reserve Office at (034) 488-0101 local 117. You could send an email to sagaycityinfo@yahoo.com or inquiry@sagay-city.com.ph for inquiries.
